About Us
Black In Genetics, Inc. (BIG) is an organization dedicated to amplifying the voices and work of Black-identifying geneticists across the U.S. and beyond. Some of our goals include connecting Black-identifying geneticists and trainees with organizations seeking to hire them, providing the scientific community with resources on understanding racial inequity in the Genetics field, educating the public on recent advancements in Genetics, and providing a platform to host conversations about dismantling systemic racism.
Our Mission
Black In Genetics is a platform created for and by Black-identifying geneticists, with the goal of celebrating, amplifying, and supporting Black voices in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). We are dedicated to:
Amplifying the voices and work of Black-identifying geneticists from the United States and beyond
Connecting Black-identifying trainees with organizations seeking to hire them
Providing the scientific community with resources on understanding racial inequity in the Genetics field
Educating the public on recent advancements in Genetics
Providing a platform to host conversations about dismantling systemic racism
We believe that everyone deserves access to science. We venture to do this by offering various resources to ALL. Our directory serves as a resource for people of all education levels. We implore you to connect with them, build community, seek out job applicants and advice. Black In Genetics aims to continue amplifying the voices of Black genetics professionals & trainees to encourage and inspire the next generation of scientists.
